Standby for the latest breaking news from this side of the Galaxy - rumor has it that Samsung is working on a Galaxy Q phone. Details are a bit murky but a 3-inch SuperAMOLED, a QWERTY keyboard and Froyo treatment are enough to get our attention.
This juicy spec sheet for the Samsung Galaxy Q was somehow discovered at the Samsung Download support page. The Q is a GSM phone with speedy HSDPA and HSUPA-enabled 3G but we wouldn't be surprised at all if there's a CDMA version.
The spec sheet goes on to list Android 2.2 Froyo running on a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU. The screen on the Samsung Galaxy Q is the smallest SuperAMOLED we've heard of - a 3" screen with 720 x 480 pixels resolution (presumably in landscape orientation).
A QWERTY keyboard and an optical trackpad will enable the Galaxy Q to take on messaging with ease. They also result in the wide footprint of the phone - it's 120 x 68 mm big, about the size of the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S. It's just 9.25mm thick though and weighs only 108 grams.
Other features that the Samsung Galaxy Q phone is purported to have is an 8MP camera with HD video recording along with excellent connectivity - mini HDMI, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB. A 16GB built-in memory expandable by up to 32GB microSD cards make for more storage than you'd need.
Finally, a 1500mAh battery with up to 7.5 hours of talktime and up to 510 hours of standby should keep even business users happy. These specs for the Samsung Galaxy Q are just rumors at this point so things might change.
Korea Times says that the Samsung Galaxy Q is ready for a US release and while there's no fixed timetable, it should launch by the end of the year. Apparently Samsung is in talks with AT&T and
