VEHICLE HIGHLIGHTS

The 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty gets a major freshening that includes revised styling and new engines. Ford's heavy-duty large pickups come in F-250, F-350, and F-450 chassis variants. F-250 and F-350 are available in regular cab, extended SuperCab, and 4-door Crew Cab variants. F-450 comes as a Crew Cab only. The 250 and 350 have a rear axle with two single rear wheels. Available on the 350 and standard on the 450 is a dual-rear-wheel axle. All cabs offer an 8-foot cargo bed. SuperCrew and Crew Cab versions also offer a 6.75-foot bed. Two engines are available on the 250 and 350 while the 450 offers three engines. Standard on most models is a new 385-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. A new 390-horsepower 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8 is optional or standard, depending on cab and chassis configuration. Both engines team with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacities range from 11,800 to 24,400 pounds. Most models are available with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive that can be left engaged on dry pavement and includes a low-range gear for off-roading. Trim levels should include XL, XLT, Lariat, and special-edition Cabela's and Harley-Davidson. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. Newly available is a 4.2-inch LCD screen that integrates with Ford Works Solutions in-dash computer. The system includes Internet access with available printer, a tool-inventory program, and vehicle tracking for fleet users. Also offered are hill-descent and trailer-sway control. We have not yet tested the 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty.
