If you connected to the internet through a USB dongle, chances are you've already crossed paths with a Huawei product. A technology solutions provider, they've been responsible for set-top boxes, wireless devices, and broadband modems---perhaps even the one you're using. Now, they add another accolade to their already growing list: creator of world's slimmest phone (for now). 
The Chinese manufacturer's Ascend P1 S is a looker for it's wide, vibrant screen and its barely-there depth. It narrowly beat the Motorola Droid Razr as thinnest phone in the world by a mere 0.42 mm. Talk about cutting it close. That's about the same width of one strand of copper wire in this spool. Technically it's not much, but bragging rights go along way in Tech land. It also means something to one-up Google's soon-to-be sister company, while partnering up with the Big G himself.
Just how great is this phone for a relatively low-key brand?

- GSM/GPRS/EDGE support of course plus pentaband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooh 3.0
It looks good so far, and we're always excited to see thinner but sturdier phones out. If this'll pick up in the tech crowd though, that remains to be seen. We wouldn't want it to suffer the same fate as the Motorola Xoom.
