According to its manufacturer, HP Envy 15 Laptop With USB 3.0 is coming out this 2010. However, when HP announced on CES 2010 that they will be selling its new Envy 15 laptop with USB 3.0, it was received with much skepticism. Even the venerable CNET was an unbeliever since they said the HP sales people they talked to politely declined to confirm the availability of HP laptops with USB 3.0 ports.
But to prove that the hype is true, HP spokeswoman Sheila Watson said they will be selling certain HP Envy 15 laptops with USB 3.0 via its HP direct online store. She made it clear that not all Envy 15 models will have default USB 3.0. Buyers will only be only being able to get USB 3.0 ports for their Envy 15 laptop if they opt to bundle it if they configure it with the latest mobile DirectX 11-compatible ATI 5830 graphics card and Quadcore i7 processor.
The HP Envy 15 laptop is not for the budget-conscious because of its high price. With USB 3.0 configuration, a buyer will have to pay around $1,800from HP online store. This high tag price is mainly because of the additional cost of putting a QUADCORE i7 processor and aDX-11 videocard, ATI 5830. If you got the money and would like to be one of the first to experience SuperSpeed USB 3.0, then buy an HP Envy 15 right now. But check out their new tablet PC, the HP Slate Tablet PC, and you might find this a better deal.
